This is a very simple task for an experienced Flash programmer.? It is to create a Flash-based application that reads a simple configuration file from the web server and then displays graphics.? You will not have to create any graphics.
## Deliverables
We are looking to duplicate the basic look of the Flash header bar at
[login to view URL] which is on the home
page of [login to view URL]
The code must read a configuration file located on the server to
determine what it should do.? Specifically it must take the URL of the
referring page (the page the Flash was loaded from), take the last
component of the URL and create the configuration URL from that as
follows:
If the referring URL was:
it should take distributors off the end of the URL and
[login to view URL] off the front of the URL and create the
following URL which it can use to grab its configuration file:
The home page is a special case.? For the following referring URL:
the following configuration file URL should be used:
to retrieve the configuration file, the syntax of which is specified below.
It is an XML file, an example of which is attached.
The first part of the file contains general configuration information in the Options section. ? The values in this section can appear in any order?
Specifically it? defines navcolor, bgcolor, hsize and vsize.
navcolor is the RGB value for the color mini-nav-bar at the bottom of
the Flash.
bgcolor is the color of the background onto which the various graphics
will be placed.
hsize is the horizontal size of the Flash image in pixels
vsize is the vertical size of the Flash image in pixels.
barvsize is the vertical height of the bottom nav bar in pixels.
Each section defines a graphic that is to be displayed.? There must be
at least one section, and there need not be more than 25 sections.
Each section, at a minimum, defines:
- image? which is the graphic to be displayed.? This may be .jpg, .gif
or .png or it may be a video file, such as a .mov, .mp4 or .avi
- href? which is a fully qualified URL specifying the anchor href, or
link to which the browser must be redirected to if the image is
clicked upon.
- time? which indicates how many seconds this picture needs to be
shown before moving on to the next picture.? If this is the last
image in the configuration file, then it should move on to the
first image in the configuration file after displaying this image
for the indicated number of seconds.
Each section may also contain other HTML tags, such as target or any
other tag that is valid in HTML.
The graphics in the .conf file should be displayed in the section
order as they appear in the file.
I am open to changing the format of the file to make it easier to parse.? For example, the file could be made in a full xhtml syntax.
Following is an example of a configuration xml file:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="iso-8859-1"?>
<Configuration>
<Options>
? <option>
? <name>navcolor</name>
? <value>#0e0e0e</value>
? </option>
? <option>
? <name>bgcolor</name>
? <value>#ffffff</value>
? </option>
? <option>
? <name>hsize</name>
? <value>1024</value>
? </option>
? <option>
? <name>vsize</name>
? <value>150</value>
? </option>
? <option>
? <name>barvsize</name>
? <value>5</value>
? </option>
