We have an immediate need for someone to write plug-ins or adapters for the Apple Final Cut Pro non-linear editing software and the Avid NLE software to convert their open projects into XML that our application can process.
>> XML programming experience is required.
>> A thorough understanding of the Apple FCPro or Avid capabilities is required.
>> Basic DVD authoring awareness/experience is required.
Apple Final Cut Pro: The basic premise is that the FCPro software can export a timeline in an XML format. Our proprietary software can take an XML document and produce a fully-authored DVD from that XML. However, there will naturally need to be some conversion between the FCPro XML and our XML. That is the scope of this project.
Avid NLE: The Avid software interface has a "metasync" track which enables information to be included, directly by the editor, and then that timeline data can be exported, also as XML data. That XML data must be converted into XML that our application can interpret.
We prefer the work to be done locally; however THAT IS NOT A REQUIREMENT. We require only that the finished product be comprehensive and delivered in a timely matter.
1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.
2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables):
a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment.
b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.
3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement).
These are plug-in modules for the Avid line of video editing software (using the metasync track of their interface's timeline)and the Apple Final Cut Pro using their XML export option.
If written as a true plug-in, they would be installed within the specific software.
If they are written as a .NET, C# utility to convert the XML once received, then it would be written as such. In this case, there would also be some guidance for the particular editing systems.
