Magento Product Category Priority

If a product is listed in multiple categories (which is common in most stores), Magento does not prioritise how these are returned from various system requests for a products’ category i.e. Breadcrumbs, Google product feed generation etc. This task is to allow the admin to prioritise category returns.
Magento will by default return just the first numerically from the “catalog/category” model (“catalog_category_product” table)

1) Category attribute 'category_priority' has been added via the code.

2) The admin will maintain this field with a numeric value to indicate priority i.e. -1 for top priority or 999 for no priority etc
3) Magento returns the product categories via “getCategortyIds()” via app/code/core/Mage/Catalog/Model/Resource/Product.php
4) The task is to either;
4a) Hack/update the core code function getCategortyIds() to join the data from the field 'category_priority' in 'catalog_category' to data from the “catalog/category” model (“catalog_category_product” table) are sort the return via 'category_priority'
Or
4b) Update the function getCategortyIds() via local or community code pool to join the data from the field 'category_priority' in 'catalog_category' to data from the “catalog/category” model (“catalog_category_product” table) are sort the return via 'category_priority
