I had extensive experience with 3D mesh models. You can find in my history that I wrote a software to check 3D models and if any inconsistency in the tessellated 3D mesh and auto fix it. Your problem can be solved with topology. And it involves advanced mathematics and right data structure for algorithm where I'm very well versed. Let's discuss further. Regards
