Create a Java Server application by converting/re-writing an existing application from Python. - Must support 5000+ simultaneous connections over TCP sockets (current application only support about 200 connections) - Efficiently use multiple threads to service connections. - Connections use custom protocol based on JSON messages. - Interact with MySQL database. - Existing Python application will be given in source code for reference (approx 1000 lines of code), but you must re-write it in Java to support larger number of simultaneous connection. Before you submit a proposal, please make sure you are an expert in: - Java - JDBC - TCP server applications - Threading In order to be considered for this project, please include the phrase "JAVA ROCKS" at the top of your proposal so that we can know that you read our description completely.

I would like to know more about the current status of the code such as 1. What stops you from connecting to more that 200 clients at once (usually ite depends on your server OS), 2. What is your server OS and version. 3. What is your server maximum bandwidth. I have a bad feeling about this as this might not be possible at all (to open 5000 sockets on a single machine).
