We are a small company located in Idaho, USA. We are an online seller of many different poultry supplies with a strong emphasis in egg incubators. Many of the products we sell are designed and made in-house. We have a project that is partially completed that we need help to finish. Earlier this year, we worked with a university student team to begin developing an upgrade to one of our products. The product is a controller for an automatic chicken coop door and a coop light. I have attached a document that shows the original specifications that were used by the student team. The student team decided to use a Raspberry Pi as a starting point and built a board to attach that to. They spent most of their time doing programming (Python). They also designed the hardware and made a prototype, but it did not work. The team was very confident that their programming was good and would meet the specifications perfectly. The student team provided a prototype board that was fully populated, but it did not work. They assumed that they damaged some components while hand-soldering them. So, here is what we’re looking for: We need a developer to help us finish this project. Here is a basic outline of the project: 1. We will provide you with all of the development files from the student team (see attachment) 2. You review the original specification document (attached) and the files from the student team. Ensure you understand the requirements and the current state of development. 3. You provide a quote for “finishing the project” along with a project outline (including a timeline) This is what "Finishing the project" means: 1. Modify the students’ PCB to ensure it functions, per the requirements 2. Modify the students' software to conform to the new hardware (if necessary) 3. Make at least two samples (fully populated PCB's) to test software 4. Fully test the hardware and software to ensure they meet specifications 5. Send us the hardware samples and software so we can do final testing 6. You send us all updated development files so we can send them to our PCB manufacturer for production If you fully understand this project, have reviewed the original spec document AND the student files and are ready to send a COMPLETE quote for this project, please reply with this message as your first line: “I fully understand this project. Here is my complete quote along with a project timeline for completion.” Please note: if your message does not include that exact phrase, we will assume you don’t understand the project and we will not consider your bid.

I fully understand this project. Here is my complete quote along with a project timeline for completion Just quickly review the schematic file and found that the previous designer missed the protection diodes. This is so critical that the collapse magnetic in the relay coil will kill the transistors very soon when it is operating. Board has no protection fuse either. No time to check in detail other parts nor python code but the issue seems previous guys do not have much experience in circuit designing. I completed a quite similar project last year for closing door of duck coop. It was much simpler as no daylight saving nor significant sunrise/sunset variable in Vietnam. For your case, I propose developing from scratch again with a totally different approach: - The board will have only 1 button and no LCD. - When button is pressed (without holding), door is opened if it is closed and door is closed if it is opened. - When button is pressed and hold for 5s, the module will turn on a WiFi access point - An android app is develop to enable user to set turn on, turn off,... the real-time and location can be automatically detected by the app and push to the module. With this approach, user can push the same configured to multiple different module quickly. My proposal include the cost to: Design circuit, develop firmware and the android app + 2 prototype boards. It does not include the cost to ship from Vietnam to US (cost about $100-$150). Any question, pls let me know.

Hi there. I saw this project as soon as you posted it, and I could have bid immediately like the others, but I chose to go through your documents first. I get it that your previous team is confident in their programming. I'll take their word for it and I won't change the code (except where absolutely necessary). I saw the 2 BOM files in the zip file. One was for the prototype while the other is for mass-production, eh? Good. I saw that they're all the same except for items 2 and 5. I took the time to go through all 18 items (17, really, because #18 is a service) to see whether they're available at my electronic dealers' stores. With the exception of the 4.7k and the 10k, they're all in stock. HOWEVER: I don't want to trust ,y dealers' when they say that these two components will be back in stock 1 week. That might take forever, and keep your project delayed. And that's not good, is it? So, I took the liberty of finding out delivery times from Idaho (where you are) to Eldoret (where I am). If you have all the parts with you, you can ship them to me and it'll take 8 days. With that, I won't have to take +-2weeks waiting for the out-of-stock part to be found, and then 2 days for it to be delivered to me. So, that's my suggestion of how we could work. About my skills? I'm good at MATLAB. Really good (with all humility). If you're good at one language, you can easily adapt to almost any other. I'll adapt to Python. Do inbox me for more, because I'm running out of charact...
