I'm a full time graphic design/web developer who picked up game development on the side to realize a life-long dream of mine to develop a game, Ranchers of Kyvos.
While I'm definitely making progress, I think I'm going to need some help developing a 2D AI pathing script for NPCs from which I can learn from, implement and edit to fit my uses. The script needs to do the obvious (move a 2D object from one point to another, which my script already does), however, it needs to also be able to detect the edges of the 2D map and other objects around it to avoid collision into environmental objects (think trees and cliffs) or other NPCs.
The script will be the backbone of movement and thus I'd like to get this done the right way, and not just use code I 'figured out'.
To see more about this project, you can check out the facebook page for it over at: [login to view URL] Once there, you'll see I already have a relatively functional linear pathing from point A to point B, but I can already see so many issues popping up if it isn't 'smarter', which is why I need your help recoding this script.
Thanks in advance for your interest!
Hi. I would use A* path finding for your project. If you work with me you don't have to pay anything in advance. Once you get what you wanted done, you can pay me then. Ping me and will discuss further.
