Linking Windows 7 Desktop and Ubuntu 10.10 Desktop to a mutual partition or drive...

In this project I have a dual boot laptop with one hard drive running windows 7 on its own partition, and also Ubuntu 10.10 on its own partition. The problem I have is that I regularly use Windows 7 and save files and data to its desktop. Then I go to Ubuntu and would like to have that same information from windows 7 already sitting on my ubuntu 10.10 desktop. I would like to set up a configuration where I do not have to go back and forth between the desktops to copy files and such. Would it be possible to link the windows 7 desktop {C:\Users\username\Desktop} and link the ubuntu desktop {/home/username/Desktop} to a mutual location, perhaps on another NTFS partition which both Windows and Ubuntu can access and write data to and read data from. This data would be current for either operating system. (real time, not counting the reboot). The problem also would be ...while doing the linking... to make sure that the windows 7 background and ubuntu 10.10 background still "virtually" appear to be their own different desktop backgrounds. So the trick is how to make it seem nothing has changed, except that when I download something to win7 I know its going to be sitting on the ubuntu desktop the moment I reboot, and vice versa.
Please feel free to suggest other ideas to make this requirement happen.
Thank you.
