## BIO POSITION DESIRED: Programming using Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) with Access or Excel. Heavy previous experience plus existing re-usable code will make new development faster. EXPERIENCE · FEBRUARY 20, 2001 to PRESENT Employed full time at Pacific Capital Bancorp in Santa Barbara. Working on a proprietary program for the bank’s tellers and call center. Using C++, Pascal, Delphi, and Zeus. · JUNE 21 to DECEMBER 12, 2000 Contracted through Computer Resources Group to Federal Home Loan Bank in San Francisco, the Financial Forecasting and Analysis department. Revised and developed complicated financial reports in several Access databases. The most complicated reports drew data from several tables simultaneously for any given time period. In order to provide such flexibility, used VBA code to create the SQL statements, to create the queries with joins and unions, and to modify the labels and financial formulas on the report itself. In this manner, a few basic reports were adapted to an infinite array of possibilities. Data was linked to an Oracle back end as well as to FoxPro tables. Exported data from Access to Excel, and automatically created Excel charts controlled from Access. · MAY 11, 2000 TO JUNE 9, 2000 Contracted through BCSI to Artesyn Solutions in Lincoln. Debugged and completed a data collection program in Access with a SQL Server 7.0 back end. Also used a VB 6.0 program as a guide for coding conventions. Heavy coding in VBA and SQL stored procedures. Successfully completed the project in a much shorter time than anyone expected. · JANUARY 18, 2000 TO APRIL 28, 2000 Contracted through Comdyn to County of Santa Barbara. Created Access program with extensive VBA coding to track permits, as well as to track employee performance in the permit approval process. Designed table structure, complicated forms with interdependent calculations, and reports with flexible user-selected criteria. · DECEMBER 7, 1999 TO JANUARY 14, 2000 Contracted through NSP to Firemans Fund Insurance in Novato. Created Excel macros using VBA to create pivot tables and bubble charts dynamically based on user-selected criteria. Wrote 4000 lines of code in VBA. · FEBRUARY 1, 1999 TO NOVEMBER 30, 1999 Contracted through Dapru (New Boston Systems) to California Department of Food and Agriculture in Sacramento. Provided business analysis, designed and created an Access application from the ground up. Converted data from Dataflex. Synchronized data from laptops in the field with data on the office server. Documented in PowerPoint and gave group presentations using PowerPoint. Final database had 443 objects and extensive VBA coding. · NOVEMBER 1999 (concurrent with CDFA job) Worked for Directions Unlimited in Sacramento, using Visual Basic 6.0, to develop a tracking system for file folders. The result was that users were able to view the complete history of the physical location of any file folder. · SEPTEMBER 1999 (concurrent with CDFA job) Contracted through ICC to Siemens Transportation in Sacramento. Debugged and enhanced an existing Access database linked to SQL Server. · SEPTEMBER 22, 1998 to JANUARY 31, 1999 Worked for Integral Vision in Lafayette which is contracted to Caltrans. Enhanced an existing comprehensive project management application in Access. This program is used to organize projects such as rebuilding the Bay Bridge. Intensive VBA programming. A team effort. · SEPTEMBER 7, 1998 to NOVEMBER 20, 1998 (concurrent with Integral Vision job) Contracted through Trattner Network to MedAmerica in Oakland. Provided initial analysis, designed database structure, and developed Access application to track hospital and physician statistics. Used VBA code to construct SQL statements behind the scenes, making queries easier for the user. · MARCH 23, 1998 to AUGUST 26, 1998 Contracted through Chen & McGinley to Bank of America corporate offices in Concord. Converted Paradox and Excel costing analysis program to Access. Heavy on analysis, documentation and debugging. Used Lotus Notes. Co-workers expressed gratitude because they could now understand the "black box" of the old programs. · JANUARY 20, 1997 to MARCH 22, 1998 Contracted through Computer Resources Group to Pacific Bell in Sacramento. Access programmer, design queries, forms, and reports. Debugged and wrote enhancements to current workload scheduling application which draws upon 150 tables and queries. Converted four Paradox databases to SQL and Access. Wrote queries and stored procedures in Microsoft SQL server. Used all three versions of Access. Used ODBC to connect to server, and used WEB linked to server. · NOVEMBER 1997 to MARCH 1998 (concurrent with Pacific Bell job) Contracted through SmartSource to Sutter Hospital in Sacramento. Designed an Access database from the ground up to track emergency room activity. Worked off-site part time. Users were pleased that the interface made data entry easier and faster. · JULY 1997 (concurrent with Pacific Bell job) Contracted through Comms People to Aegis Mortgage in San Francisco. Converted Lotus macros and spreadsheets to Excel. Worked off-site part time. Transferred files by modem. · AUGUST 19, 1996 to JANUARY 17, 1997 Contracted through Gateway Group to Chevron in Walnut Creek. Designed an Excel program in VBA to interface with Business Objects. Created interface for user to choose selection criteria. Based on the selected criteria, the program extracted data from multiple tables on the server and created charts. Produced 200 pages of VBA code. Programmed every detail of the charts, using VBA, even down to such details as the color of one point on the chart. · APRIL 4, 1996 to AUGUST 9, 1996 Contracted through Application Resources to DataQuest in San Jose. Duties include: Excel: Re-wrote Excel program in VBA to make it run faster and to create a friendly user interface. Reduced a 3-hour process to 15 minutes. Paradox: Maintain and debug Paradox programs in DOS and Windows. Maintaining the Paradox programs involves tracking the use of over 50 tables and understanding the numerous queries performed upon them. · MARCH 27, 1996 to APRIL 3, 1996 Contracted through Knauer Consulting to PG&E in San Francisco. Modified an Excel program that involved calculations and charting. Used VBA to control custom menus, calculations, and the appearance of the charts.
