The proposal envisions the infill as green space in the city which entices the community as a respite and simultaneously an exciting venue for shopping, organized community events and an informal cultural performance venue. The configuration is inserted into the fabric of the city as an object, which while fulfilling its program is an integral part of the community. It provides approximately 120,000 sq feet of multilevel retail, office, residential and green, usable community space, as well as a multilevel parking structure. The response to the urban infill competition refers metaphorically to the Red River and takes the form of a sinuous walkway which gives access to a elevated public green space and culminates in a skywalk. The walkway has a water canal running through it which in the summer months provides a refreshing, cooling experience and in the cold winter months will have steaming water to heat the ambient temperature.
