Contest Brief

I'm looking to establish a long term association with an artist/graphic designer who would work on book covers for both print and eBooks. These books are based around the Canadian army and my series character, Private Donald ‘Rabbi’ Hawkins.
I currently have four eBooks up on Amazon, but because this is a series and I lost contact with my previous designer (lived in New Zealand), I need to have those four re-done in whatever style we settle on. As well, the series is expected to run to at least 15 books.
I am new to Freelancer.com and do not know what to expect with a contest. This is a trial to determine who I would like to work with, which is why it is not a big-budget project. I want to get a picture/image that will give me a sense of how close to my idea/vision we can come. Rabbi is a kind of jester/con man in the Canadian army of the 1960s, who solves mysteries.
As you can see from the couple of published eBook covers, we had decided on a camouflage background and toy soldiers. I think, now that the toy soldiers idea was aimed at my publishing company (Toy Soldier Press) and not at the Rabbi series, so it is now a wide-open concept.
I would like to start with my fifth book, ‘Rabbi And The Inheritance’. The one thing I do want to do is establish the series with my ‘Rabbi’ logo which is included. So each book will have that logo somewhere on the cover of them all. To get a look at the earlier book covers, here is the URL of the first book, ‘Rabbi Joins The Army’ –

Employer Feedback

“BibinAJ won this contest because he did the work. He asked clarifying questions, submitted a number of designs and used the information I had provided to create something original, yet stayed within the boundaries I had set out. Well done and congratulations.”

I would like to thank everyone who participated. I know you worked hard on your projects and from the variety of book covers submitted, I had a difficult choice to make. Take care, Jim

Hello there, I have got a few questions, Are you telling that the old concept can be completely abandoned and you are open for any new concepts matching with your vision?? also...Can you share some inside details of Rabi and Inheritance? I mean if there is a particular scene or something that you would like to illustrate, if you think that would help.

Hi, thanks for taking the time to contact me. What I have submitted is really to give you and everyone else an idea. But, I am really into seeing what others can come up with. I am not big on stock photo images, and would prefer illustrations that are unique. That being said, I am open to everything. Stock photos on books seem to me to be to formulaic - however, I do not know everything that is out there. As for a particular scene, the opening line reads, "I found the body with my nose." And from there it goes on to explain that my protagonist, Rabbi Hawkins, is crawling up the side of a large sinkhole in the dead of winter and comes across a good friend of the platoon's, Mrs, Thompson. Here is the paragraph describing that - I was a foot from the top when I came nose to nose with Mrs. Thompson. Horror is the only term that comes to mind when you find one of your dearest friends frozen stiff out in the wintery wilds of Camp Gagetown.

Part 2 of the above posting - Somebody who should never have been there in the first place. I jerked up and backward, falling toward the drop off. A small bush stopped me inches from going over and re-joining Farley at the bottom. I crawled back up to where Mrs. Thompson lay covered in snow.
Rabbi is dressed in winter clothing, with a large parka. Over all that is a set of camouflage whites, thin, cottony jacket and pants, along with white mukluks. I see this white-draped figure crawling up the side, as if I were looking at him from behind. And there is a snow-covered body with only a frozen face. Again, my idea, if it helps. Please get back to me with any questions. Take care, Jim

To meceering - having a bit of trouble with this contest. I'm a newbie here. Once I figure out how to add a file, I'll do so. Sorry,
