Contest Brief

We are seeking experienced retail designers and interior designers to design a boutique cinema foyer and overall look and feel of the cinema complex. Must be proficient at using Sketchup software.

OVERVIEW
Deluxe Cinemas is an existing boutique cinema located in New Zealand which caters primarily to a more senior demographic (60 years old and above).

Now in 2020, we are expanding Deluxe Cinemas by adding ‘Deluxe Penthouse’ directly upstairs which will host two additional 28 seat Cinemas complete with its own foyer and counter.
While the Deluxe Penthouse should feel completely new and fresh from Deluxe Cinemas downstairs, it is an expansion and therefore needs to carry some of the same design elements and feel.

THE LOOK AND FEEL
The Deluxe Penthouse foyer should be the same or a similar era as Deluxe Cinemas downstairs which is considered art deco yesteryear, inducing feelings of nostalgia for the senior target market. This can include art deco designs but is not essential.
The designs we use should feel unique, opulent and nostalgic.
The color pallete should be different from downstairs to ensure a different look and feel, while somehow still feeling like it’s the same place.
The Deluxe Penthouse foyer needs to look and feel better in every way than downstairs and special enough that customers remark on it’s aesthetics with each other.

CONFIRMED SO FAR...
Until now, only the carpet and cinema seats have been confirmed. Therefore any designs should reflect these confirmed choices.
The below image will be the carpet pattern design for the Deluxe Penthouse.
However, the colors of the carpet can be customized to match your new color palette.
The colors of the seats in the two new cinemas have also been confirmed as grey and blue. Please see the image below for reference.

Please download the attached Sketch file and create/add all of your textures complete with your designs.
Send us the updated Sketch file including the textures for review.
