implementation and troubleshooting skills gained through studying CCNA Routing and Switching Essentials

When sizing the subnets allow 100% growth of the current IPv4 requirements for all hosts, unless

otherwise stated.

• Use hierarchical VLSM design to maximise the use of IPv4 addresses and CIDR. Addressing should

allow for address and route aggregation between the main sites.

• Networking devices must have IPv4 addresses as required and the PC hosts’ gateways will use the

first available usable address in each subnet.

• The switch management VLAN for the switching networks will have 10 usable IPv4 addresses

maximum, for the lifetime of the network design, regardless of any growth.

• The network administrator has the last usable IPv4 address on the Management VLAN.

The company’s general IPv6 requirements:

• Each separate network will be allocated a prefix of /64.

• IPv6 addressing will allow for route aggregation between internal router sites.

• The hosts will use SLAAC for the interface addressing.

• The routers’ interfaces for IPv6 will use statically assigned addressing for Globally Unique Unicast

addressing (keeping the addressing simple).

• The switch’s management SVI interface will use the last IPv6 address of its network.
