The functionalities should be the same: search, category searching, sorting, adding a new "profile" in that specific case a doctor but I could add anything behind. The website should have a backoffice that will allow the administrator to modify the website code easily, add categories, reorganize the look and feel, etc...
The language and tools are up to the developper but it should be maintainable, easily readable, highly compatible with the most used browsers (mobile, pc, mac, linux etc...) and compliant with the industry generally accepted standards.
