We are setting up an online catalog search.
The catalog consists of cattle for sale. Each animal has what we refer to as EPD's. These EPD's are statistics that breeders
use to choose the cattle they want to purchase. The catalog also provides information about the animals prodigy.
(parental information). Also, information about the sale date and location. The cattle also will have photos displayed. The photos will be stored
on the server and the URL will be stored in the database to display the pics.
What we need is the search built so several criteria can be filtered to display the animals.
The landing page will display the animals as they appear in the catalog and the search will result in the animals that
meet the criteria.
The search we need constructed will consist of the following:
Animal search by Sire: Drop down menu automaticaaly populated by the sire names available in the sire name database field.
Animal search by EPD's
This will include a drop down menu that contains all the EPD's pertaining to a particular catalog.
Not all catalogs use all of the EPD's in there listings. If a sale doesn't have any Angus cattle, for example, then
their catalog would not have the EPD's associated with the Angus breed. So if the fields for the EPD's are not empty
for any record in a particular catalog then that EPD would appear in the drop down menu.
Also, this search filter will need another drop down associated with it that has the choices of <,>, or = and
another field that the user can place a value into, usually a decimal number or whole number. Sometimes this number an integer. (-1.2, or 2.3).
The lot is a lot number. Each entry is designated by a sale lot number in the catalog. A lot number may have more than one animal associated with it.
Let's say the mother cow is being sold with a calf. The calf's information would be input into the description it would not have it's own grid of EPD's displaying.
This is a field that a user can type in the name of the consigner ( person selling the animal)
This is a drop-down field that will be automatically populated with the names in the database in the Sire Name column.
The sire name will only be listed one time not repetitive if there is more more than one record that has the sire name recorded.
But it will display the results of every animal with that Sire Name entered.
This will be a drop-down field automatically populated with the categories that are available in the category column in the database.
This will be a drop-down field automatically populated with the HPS that are available in the HPS column in the database.
This will be a drop-down field automatically populated with the %'s that are available in the % column in the database.
This will be a drop-down field automatically populated with the colors that are available in the color column in the database.
This will be a drop-down field automatically populated with the sex's that are available in the sex column in the database.
