A batch of photographs from which we can choose one to purchase and own in perpetuity

I work in marketing for Ostara Australia.

Ostara Australia finds sustainable employment for disadvantaged job seekers, including those with a disability, a mental illness, Indigenous Australians and older people.

We have a small job in Brisbane that needs a local photographer, somewhere near Fortitude Valley, an internal shoot at a Nandos restaurant where one of our clients is working. We are in the process of writing up the story to a tight deadline, and would like to include a photograph to go with the story.

The precise details are yet to be confirmed, but one option was to set up a shoot at a Nandos on Thursday this week (yes, that’s just two days away!).

In the photo would be the manager of the Nandos and the client, in the work setting. I’ll include a rough brief below.

Is this the sort of job you would contemplate taking on?

If we can’t make it happen for Thursday, the following week would be OK too.

The way we like to work here is for our photographers across the country to submit a number of shots from which we can choose one to purchase – and own into perpetuity – to accompany the story and for possible use in the future in other publications.

Can you please quote to provide a photograph by COB Thursday? And then provide an alternative quote to provide one for the following week (no set deadline).

BRIEF:

• Confident, happy photos in the work setting.

• Background shouldn’t be too busy, but should identify what type of work they do.

• Please try to include the Nandos logo in the background, preferably so it would still be visible when the photo is cropped in tightly. If this is simply too hard, or there is the option of an alternative great shot, we can look at photoshopping a logo into the background or attach to the shot somewhere.

• Inside the store would be better than outdoors.

• We would like portrait layout, with sufficient space allowed around the subject so that we can crop in or use the photo in different placeholders throughout our marketing materials.

• It looks more natural when the subject is doing something work related with their hands, as this works with the theme and also helps avoid it looking like a “posed” photograph (eg if a cleaner, holding a mop, if a dishwasher, wearing gloves or holding their implements. The idea is to look as through you have just come upon them in the workplace, and snapped a friendly, non intimidating shot).

If we can come to an arrangement I can send you some examples of shots that we think have worked.
