1. Entities

1. The starting point - or context of this idea - is a project

1.1 The project has a name, eg "ABC123DE44"

1.2 The project spans a number of calendar years, eg. 2015 - 2020

2. Resources

The project has resources

2.1 each resource has a forename and a surname

2.2 each resource has an assigned role (= function)

2.3 each resource has an assigend domain

2.3 each resource has a home (location = town)

2.4 each resource is either a permanent employee of the company responsible for the project or an external resource

2.5 each resource might - or might not - have a reason for leaving the project (ie. "resigned", "illness", "pregnancy" etc)

2.6 An example is provided as a PNG file

3. Over the course of this project

3.1 project resources leave the project on a given date

3.2 project resources join the project on a given date

3.3 project resources might change their role

3.4 project resources might change the working time (per month, expressed as a percentage of a full-time equivalent) they may work for the project

3.5 these changes also influence the total personnel capacity of the project.

4. Changes

4.1 a resource might inherit the function of another resource leaving the project. In this case the total total personnel capacity does not change

4.1.1 the total personnel capacity increases if a new resource is added with a function that is already present and if any resource with the same function has no end-date

4.2 some resources are static, ie they join the project at the beginning and stay till the end. So even though there is no change they add to the total personnel capacity of the project

Visualization

The idea is to visualize the resource-changes over the project’s lifetime on an individual level. I.e. there could be some kind of timeline

E.g. resource “Marc” joins the project, taking over the function of resource “B” who left the project some days earlier.

Later, resource “Marc” might reduce his working hours from 100% to 10%.

It might be an idea to correlate ups and downs in resource-capacity with factor “time” (eg as a bar graph somewhere on the screen)

The project name must be displayed in case this idea evolves into some kind of dashboard with multiple projects
