Since ffmpeg has dropped the vhook support in their latest CVS release using imlib2 vhook for watermarks is no longer possible. The vhook also has the problem that a scaled video will have the watermark applied before the scaling which results in upscaled watermarks.

The job requires the modification of the vf_overlay.c/movie libavfilter or creating a new one to support transparent .PNG image overlays on videos at X/Y coordinates and accepts the image path as an additional argument with the coordinates. A timely delivery is the most important aspect and the plugin/patch might be released to the ffmpeg project at a later time so needs to be under the GNU Lesser General Public License.
