My goal for this project is to evaluate and create ways to alleviate congestion on the openflow channel between a switch and a controller. This is because there is always the tendency to experience bottleneck on the openflow channel due to high number of packets experienced when the destination address of certain hosts are not stated on the openflow switch tables for forwarding to the destination. The methods explored are link aggregation group (LAG), variable bandwidth of the openflow channel, the combination of both LAG and variable bandwidth and finally implementing these techniques in a cluster of controllers to further increase the ability of mitigation the congestion. Omnet++ should be used for this simulation and delivery time is 3 to 5 days.
