TO DO List - Bad Performance for our site in drupal

Apache2 - Apache2 installed is prefork version. It's an very old technology now, memory and resources consuming.

It should be updated to:

- Apache2 MPM + PHP Fast CGI

or

- Nginx + PHP-FPM

--

Linux - Ubuntu 10.04.4 LTS (Lucid) is installed - 16.04 LTS is the newest.

Lucid doesn't have more updates/upgrades for the last technologies. With it, it can't be installed Nginx, Varnish 3.x/4.x and other tools for performance.

It should be updated to the last version. It also can be tweaked for performance, and it should have the swap disk turned off.

--

MySQL - Old version, configurations are wrong, it's occupying too much disk

MySQL server is old (5.1, newest is 5.7). It's also configured wrong (low memory use, swap disk makes it slow, misconfiguration for InnoDB keeps files continuously growing)

It should be updated to the last version and fine tuned.

--

PHP - Old version, 5.3.2, newest compatible is 5.5/5.6

It's not installed any kind of cache for PHP (opcache, APC, etc.) for performance. It must be installed and reconfigured to optimal performance.

--

Varnish - Not installed. It's a very good option to front-end cache for anonymous users. It helps a lot serving static files or static content that doesn't update frequently (for anonymous users), letting the server free to serve script updated content.

Optional.
