Need small linear displacement sensor and circuit

Need to build a very small linear displacement circuit (with mounted sensor) which measures tiny pulling force. Need someone who has worked with such sensors. Very small space requirement--sensor should fit into approximately 1cm cubed of space. Could be piezoelectric, variable capacitor, stretch sensor, etc. But please have knowledge of response of such sensors. Needs to be highly sensitive to measure very small pulling forces. Should be highly reliable. I'm already designing plastic housing, and would provide you the 3D model within which to fit sensor and create specs for it and related circuit. This job is not a custom PCB design, but selecting and mounting and adapting the right sensor to fit this application (and related circuit).
