Produce a command-line tool (batfile or exe) that takes one (or two) args, FROM (and TO), and opens Word (2007 or later), opens a .DOCX file named FROM, then saves that file as a .DOC file named TO, if supplied, otherwise with the same pathname as FROM but with the .DOC extension. Ideally, this would not disturb any existing instances of Word that are currently running, and would not show anything on the screen at all. It's just a batch file. It doesn't have to run very quickly: can take a second or two for a smallish 5-10 page Word document. The source has to be provided, but it can be almost any language (C, Java, C++, Basic, batfile language, etc.). My impression is this is a very simple simple project with Office Automation and some basic programming, but I'm open to hearing about complexities. The resulting tool may assume a valid version of Word 2007 or later is installed. The resulting must be royalty-free and distributable without restriction (some flexibility, but not much).
