Joomla Menu / Section Blog Layout Fix

I have a menu issue. I have just changed a section blog menu that was working properly and now it is not. i deleted a menu item then added a new item using the old content. when the new menu item is selected the content diverts to the home page not the menu page.

the menu item is the playlist menu.
to view the issue:
go to music >> playlist>>playlist 2010. also the latest news module demonstrates the issue as well (this can be found on the home page right hand side
the menu item playlist 2011 works.
i initially tried adding a section blog menu item to the main menu:
music >> playlists
this did not work. when you clicked on playlist it just reverted to the home page with the content displaying at the bottom of the page.
i need the playlist 2011 menu item to function propertly and also the playlist module (latest news module) displayed on home page.
