I need a script to automatically generate and email quotes to customers based on their inbound quote requests.
The script should:
Continuously check an inbox for new emails requesting quotes. It should parse the email body to extract:
SKU code (always a 6 digit number)
Quantity (could be expressed as qty, pcs, mtr, units, etc)
Use the SKU code to lookup the matching product details in a CSV database/spreadsheet. The database contains at minimum:
SKU code
Product name
Unit price
Weight
Build a quote table containing:
SKU code
Product name
Quantity requested
Unit price
Line total (quantity x unit price)
Weight per unit
Total weight for the line item (weight per unit x quantity)
Add a grand total and grand weight total for the full quote at the bottom of the table.
Populate an email template with the formatted quote table and totals.
Email the quote back to the customer who requested it.
So in summary, the script would:
Continuously check for new quote request emails
Extract key details like SKU code and quantity
Lookup product data by SKU code
Build a formatted quote table
Populate and send quote email back to customer
This allows me to automatically generate and send quotes based on incoming email requests.
For implementation, I'm thinking:
Python for main logic
CSV file for product database
SMTP library for sending emails
Jinja templates for email body
