App to interface with Medical Practice Management Software

We wish to develop an application that can sit as a bridge between our online reminder service and the practice management software used by dentists (e.g. Dentrix, EagleSoft, OpenDental), doctors, and other health care providers. The app, which would run as a Windows service, would periodically submit appointment information to our API. During setup the user would be prompted for their software's database credentials (IP or path, username, password), and be presented with a drop down box to select the software they are using. Based on their selection and the credentials they provided at setup, the app would use the appropriate query to read the patient/client and appointment information from their software's database. The app would only need to look for appointments 3 days out or less so its internal database would be small. We would need to be able to easily add new queries and entries in the drop down box as we encounter new pieces of software to support.
## Deliverables
Our API is easy to use and well documented. The app will need to periodically query the appointment databases of the client's software and send that information on to our API. We would like to develop it initially to work with Dentrix (at least the newer SQL versions) and OpenDent (free MySQL based). Later we will add support for other software. The app will have an internal databases (e.g. SQLite) which only needs to hold 3 days worth of appointments to help it keep track of changes or cancelations. As appointments are added, changed, or cancelled in the Practice Management software, the app will pass on that information to the API to keep our reminder service updated.
