Sample:POPULATION AGEING: LINKING POPULATION, POVERTY AND DEVELOPMENT

The global population is experiencing an emerging issue of population ageing. Population ageing is the imbalanced ratio of working population and the aged population those belong above the age of 60. Generally, the age 60 is concerned as the end of working capacity and starting of old-age. However, the capacity to work varies from person to person, depends also in the ‘national, economic, political and social processes’ (). The fact can also be termed as a sustainable burden to the national economic situation where the nation has to take care of the non-productive with the capital produced by the productive population in the country. On the other hand, from another point of view, the population ageing is the positive outcome of technological and medicinal advancements that had provided people the opportunity to live longer with healthy lives.
According to (UN reports), the global scenario of population ageing is increasing day-by-by. The report had put forward the growing problem of aging population. As per the UN report it is said that for the first time in the history, the aging population will overpower the children age, specifically those under the age of 5. In this context, the relevance of developed and developing countries, their demographic situations and the capacity of managing the older population also matters (Appendix 1).
