Hi, For me is not really problem to do application like you described. The difficulty depends on the level of complexity of the protocol as is using for communication and how many parameters have to be read/write. The complexity of the user interface will be also important. I am a programmer and electronics, so this project is easy for me to do. I made a few of devices using com port communications and software to communicate for them. I use also com port for communication with the barcode printers.
