two days ago i have left a job where i was a R&D engineer, sourcing of components was not my job but i was always involved with sourcing. we source the components from local shops traders and the rare use components online, in have good knowledge about the fake chips, some fake/cloned chips are good while some others have problem for some specific use. i can discuss more after getting details about the project. Alternatives are good but it should not affect the performance visible to the end user.
