Hey Nick, I'm a former EE major so I should be able to knock this out for you. We would just need to discuss some technical and logistics details here, whether you could send me materials that I could wire up and send back, or whether you need me to buy everything, wire it, send it, or whether you just need data and schematics, etc. We have plenty of time to work it all out too, which is great.

I have completed many embedded systems in assembly for PICmicro including a Taximeter, LED display, Emergency monitoring system, GPS tracker etc. Planning to use 24bitx16bit single colour LED matrix to implement the breakout game in a simple display. Using two input pins the position of the projectile reflecting bar [3 pixel wide] can be moved to left & right. A third input button will start the movement of the projectile [one pixel] at an angle of 45deg at the start. Top half of the display [24pixels x 8] will be lighting initially & the each one hit by the projectile will be darkened. The projectile is reflected at an angle of 45deg every time it hit on left & right boarders or on a block or on the reflecting bar. The projectile, when happens to be in the bottom most row, causes user to loose the game before all the lightened pixels in the upper part of the display turns dark. The proposal I provided is a very simple one such that it can be implemented realistically in a short period of time available. Kindly, let me know your views & alteration to be implemented, if any.
