Children's Storybook that Celebrates Tibetan Culture

I am looking for someone to write and illustrate a children's picture storybook that celebrates traditional Tibetan culture. The story must be written in English, but may also include Tibetan text. The goal of this story is to spread awareness of Tibetan culture around the world, particularly to western countries. The story will be self-published and distributed worldwide through [login to view URL], and possibly through bookstores as well. The author(s) and illustrator(s) will receive a one-time payment, not to exceed $1500 USD each, in addition to 15% royalties each from the profits of all book sales. There is no set length for the story, and no restrictions on the number of illustrations or style of artwork. The story must have a cover illustration. The story should be engaging and appealing to children ages 4-8, and ideally fun for their parents to read as well. The story may explore any aspect of Tibetan culture, such as art, music, history, or religion. Buddhism is a particularly important aspect of Tibetan culture. For inspiration, I would suggest looking at "Zen Shorts" by Jon J. Muth. While not pertaining to Tibetan culture specifically, it is a popular children's storybook that incorporates aspects of Buddhist teachings. While Tibet is governed by China, Tibetan and Chinese relations have been very tense, and it is not advised that the story explore any of the political relations between Tibet and China. The Dalai Lama is a very important figure in Tibet, and may be included or referenced to in the story, but be aware that he has been condemned by the Chinese government. Any references to the Dalai Lama or Tibet in general raise the possibility that sales of this book will be banned in China, which is unavoidable but acceptable. It is likely that a portion of profits from the sale of this book will go toward helping Tibetan refugees. If this book proves to be successful, we would love to publish additional stories that follow a similar concept. This book may be translated into other languages, but this will not be the author's responsibility.
