We are looking for an iwatch application that reports accelerometer, gyroscope, or magnetometer data at a minimum of 50hz between a start and stop time point. Person would press start on the watch and the app would start logging data for the three instruments. When the person pressed stop on the watch the file would be uploaded to a cloud location as a CSV or similar file.

Hi there - I'd love to help you with this. I'm a big Apple Watch guy, so I know what is and isn't possible with the platform. First off, Apple Watch unfortunately does not have a magnetometer. So it's not possible to get readings on that front. BUT it does have a gyroscope and accelerometer, and I have made a couple of apps that required reading them. There is an API called CMSensorRecorder that gets readings from them at 50hz, assuming you're running WatchOS3. (It's 25hz on WatchOS2). What cloud service do you have? If you don't have anything set up already, I can easily upload the data to a platform like Firebase. Let me know what you think! And of course, feel free to take a look at some of my work by visiting my website: [login to view URL] Thanks and have a great day! Ben Kelsey

Hi, i have been developing a similar application for major mobile platforms with variable data sampling rates. Fetching sensor data is fairly easy but optimizing the periodic sampling might take some time. These are the common update intervals for acceleration events: Event frequency | Usage ----------------------------------------- 10–20 -- Suitable for determining a device’s current orientation vector. 30–60 -- Suitable for games and other apps that use the accelerometer for real-time user input. 70–100 -- Suitable for apps that need to detect high-frequency motion. For example, you might use this interval to detect the user hitting the device or shaking it very quickly. This table is taken from the official documentation. Thus, 50 Hz. data sampling rate that you require falls between "30 -- 60 Hz. interval". Do you think this app might need a data sampling rate between 70 -- 100 Hz. interval ? This is one of the important optimization details during the app development cycle. Looking forward to your feedback. Thanks, Kadir
