Dear Josh,
My passion for the written word ignited when I began reading at the age of two, and it has intensified ever since. I am an avid reader of fiction and nonfiction books, an attorney who has drafted a wide variety of documents, and a former member of the University of Texas School of Law's well-renowned journal, Texas Law Review. Thus, I understand and appreciate the powerful roles that grammar, punctuation, word choice, and organization play in effective communication. I now am seeking additional opportunities to apply my language skills and keen eye for detail by copy editing texts, including books like your narrative.
Although editing is a critical step in the crafting of high-quality written material, a document is primarily the product of its creator. Accordingly, when editing your book, my underlying goal will be to ensure that your voice and intent are clearly conveyed throughout the piece. Further, I will adhere to your chosen style guide (i.e., The Chicago Manual of Style, The Associated Press Stylebook, or a personalized style guide).
Customer satisfaction is my top priority. I will make myself available to discuss your goals, directions, requests, and concerns via email or phone, and I will respond to communications in a timely manner.
Further, as an attorney, I am accustomed to producing high-quality writing under significant time constraints.
I am willing to perform a trial edit of up to ten pages.
I sincerely appreciate your consideration.
