Hi, I'm CS grad student and frequently use both R and Python in my research. I looked through the R script you linked to, and I think things can be done much more elegantly in Python (R was never really designed for web scripting). Python has really nice functionality for interacting with RESTful services through the 'url' module, and I believe it would be quite straightforward to implement the sort of "batch query" functionality you're looking for.
