Hello !
I'd greatly appreciate getting some more details about the project you've posted here, precisely:
- does the proprietary software you're using has an XML export function or do I need to somehow find my way around its database? What database is it using for its storage, is it a windows based software with and SQL server?
- do you have documentation and explanation about the exported XML feed of this piece of software you have?
- do you have full docs and specs of the 3 XML feeds that need to be generated for the 3 external sites where you need the resulting/processed feeds submitted?
- does the script need to include some automatic (S)FTP or HTTP upload somewhere on each of the 3 sites or do the feeds only need to be stored locally, on a public http or ftp access folder and the respective websites will automatically pull from us?
I'm planning to use PHP for creating all the necessary scripts, however you will need to somehow set up a working php under a webserver. You can also run the scripts locally, even under a windows server, I can assist in installing php there if need be, but it's preferable under a linux, where php is native, works faster.
I assume there are also other connected things, such as categories lists on each of the 3 websites that need to be mapped to your local categories, or many other mappings, hence some documentation is very welcome at this very first stage.
Regards,
Dragos
