I have taught English at the secondary level for going on 7 years now. I have worked with students as low as seventh grade, and currently up to high school seniors. I have taught or am teaching a great range of classes: everything from Science Fiction or American Literature to English composition, Creative writing or English as a second/foreign language. I have taught in extreme environments covering rural, urban, international, charter and public schools in addition to having wrote/edited/collaborated on curriculum in all of the above.
The background of my work experience has given me a wide scope and is beneficial sure, but I write a great deal in my own personal realm as well. I regularly write or work on poetry, short stories, lyrics/music and causal journaling. I am currently project manager on a manuscript of my father's memoir, have constructed a formal book proposal to support it, and am in the process of a final revision as well as searching for an agent. I have written several blogs, one being a blog dedicated to promoting my father's work. I also have my own manuscript of a memoir in regards to my Peace Corps experience that is over 200 pages waiting on the back burner.
I am a voracious reader, giving me a constant stream of exposure to professional works. I balance as many as five books at a time with a great range; on my bedside table you might find Malcolm Gladwell, Charles Bukowski, Stephen King or Ann Rand.
