Duplicate Cisco 3750 Switches??

First let me state that I am NOT sure what we want to do can be done. We lease racks for colocation in two separate datacenters. Each center has the DC Network Drop terminate into a Cisco 3750-ts48. at each DC, we want to add a second duplicate switch in each location. Is there a way (sort of like CARP) to mirror or sync configs on a regular basis for redundant failover purposes?

You can combine two switches into one stack. It will allow you to achieve the redundancy you are seeking for.

Hello , If i understand well servers are connected in cisco swith. In this case fail over is not posible . Only solution is to move manualy cable from broken/bloked switch to secondary switch . But this is hindus/indian solution :) . I will never recomand this. Was issues with CISCO 3750-ts48 ? why you need failover ? So we can't do nothing for servers. Please let me know if you have virtual servers in DC and what use for hosting WMVARE.. . Maybe we can plug 2 cables from WMVARE (one 2 main switch and other to secondary switch) and this will work. Best regards, Octavian

Hi There are multiple ways to achieve what you want, from clustering (stacking the two switches) to creating a periodic script that will copy the config from one device to the other whenever you save the config (for example). I would however like to better understand what you want to achieve as there might better solutions to your question. The amount I bid is random, that will be discussed after I better understand what you need.

Dear Sir, I am CCNP with more than 3 years of experience. Yes what you state is possible and i can do this. That configurations will not only use your two switches but will also make two switches synch in case of anyone of the switch fail. It will be a great pleasure if you provide me an opportunity to complete this work for you. Thank you Best Regards Abdul Basit

Simple requirements. These layer 3 switches can pretty much do anything you want them to. What I have done in the past for redundancy and increased throughput is to actually stack the switches so they act as a single entity and utilize a combination of lacp and other protocols to create ether-channels with redundancy so if one switch were to have an interface issue or a power failure the other just keeps on passing packets. Depending on what solution you want after a discussion we can do some pretty interesting things to accomplish your goals. The actual job after planning may take less than 2 hours with a few seconds of disconnect while protocols negotiate. I'm assuming you have multiple nics on the server ? If they are not all being used we can increase the local bandwidth and have a fail-over in case one burns out. Let me know if you would like to discuss options further.

Hello, I've configured quite a few 3750s. This switch was the go to L3 solution for K-12 schools and higher ed before everyone started going 10G. Depending on the capabilities of the devices connecting to these switches, there are likely a couple of config/design scenarios which would address your problem. Considerations are: Design 3750s for redundancy in data centers. Config of 4 3750's (2 existing plus 2 new). Possible after hours work with tech onsite. Down time due to possible code upgrade/routing config changes. Provide config of all switches and simple network diagram to customer as final project documentation.
