It could be for two reasons 1) Matching OR 2) Storage and transmission For 1) I would use the Image processing Toolboxes of MATLAB. But, If it is 2) then Wavelet Toolbox is better! Dear all! I'm a PhD in digital signal&image processing. If you need classify task which recognize if this fingerprint belongs to such human or not we can develop simple classifier based on SVM(or AdaBoost) and tested on CASIA-FingerprintV5 (or something else).
