Hi, This is my plan, I will use low power MCU, such as STM32L for controlling solenoid and manage IR sensor. Why I used MCU instead of analog circuit? because we can adjust the time and will get more stable output if we use MCU. But, using Analog circuit might cost stability, although it will have advantage on power consumption. We can discuss it over chat. Hi If you are looking for power efficiency, perhaps we can used stm32L, or msp430 if you want lower price in production. About the solenoid, it required relatively huge amount of energy if runs on battery. If the function of the solenoid is not very often and required latching, Perhaps we could discuss another solution for replacing solenoid
