I am a Product Development Engineer, from a mechanical engineering background, and I have a good understanding of the need for industrial design. I do appreaciate the importance of a line, colour, texture etc. I notice you are UK based - you should be able to verify that I have a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Loughbourough University (1999), which focussed on the design of surgical equipment. I have worked a ot on injection moulded parts which have to look sleek, inspire confidence and be very ergonomic (surgical instruments). So although I don't have similar experience as you described, this device shares common ground with non-invasive medical equiment, in that it must comply with the standards and regs relating to devices which are used oraly.
If you search online using my name and the term "surgical staplers" or stapling, you should be able to see evidence of my engineering research work.
If you would like to dicuss this further, please drop me a line.
Best Regards,
John McGuire
