Print different pages from one PDF (under Linux) to multiple media types

I have an application that produces one pdf document and I need to print e.g. the first page to paper from tray 1, the second on a paper from tray 2, the third and fourth again on paper from tray 1 and so on. Printing has to be done in ONE step, first printing all pages for tray 1 and than tray 2 is NOT an option. The number of trays and pages is not necessarily fixed. Operating system is Linux with CUPS
