artists play at the concert, choose one to write about (they must play for at least 20 minutes). It must be a “real” concert from "YouTube". Open-mic nights, church services, rehearsals, etc. do not qualify. Free concerts are completely fine. Cover bands are acceptable, but write mostly about this band, not the band they are covering. Paper must be around two pages in length, double-spaced, 12-point font . Please address the following topics in your report: 1)Basic artist information (name, hometown, important people). This should not be more than few sentences –this is not a history report on the band, but a report on the concert! 2)What musical style do they usually play? Did they play that style at this concert? How can you tell? How familiar with this style of music are you? 3)Describe the musical aspects of their performance (instrumentation, melody, complexity, rhythm, etc.). This should probably be the longest part of your paper. What artists covered in class are they most similar to? Why? 4) How difficult do you think this music is to play? How does this affect your enjoyment of it (positively or negatively)? 5)What kind of lyrical themes do their songs use? Are lyrics an important part of their music? Are there any political or social messages in their music? 6)What “scene” is this artist a part of? What kind of crowd was at the concert? Does this fit with your expectations? 7)What was the concert venue like? How big was it? What kind of technology was employed? How was the sound quality? How did the venue affect the concert overall? 8)Did you like the concert? Why or why not? 9)Anything else you find important.
