Write a CLI and/or web GUI to OpengGTS:[login to view URL] in order to load GPS Exchange format files (GPX) into the OpenGTS MySQL database. This discussion in the [login to view URL] forums outlines the general idea how to import GPX tracks into OpenGTS. [login to view URL] I am looking for a flexible wrapper script or new code which will be called to perform the import. More information can be found on http://opengts.org.

I am going to try tackle this again since this is such a useful feature. After reading all related information, there are 3 possible approaches. one is to use the method you mentioned in sourceforge discussion. this method needs a GPX-to-csv converter according to that specific csv format. This is relatively clear and easy. The second is to hack around [login to view URL] to make it work, I don't know how long it would take. The third is to write new code to parse GPX data and write into MySQL directly, in any scripting language that seems fit. You don't have to award this project now until I have a working solution.

In addition to the events / location information we will need to provide the ID / IMEI of the device in the data somehow. The example you cited uses the template example DCS to insert a .CSV data file into the GTS database. The XML files you have could be converted / parsed into .CSV format then imported using the template example DCS. This is a good approach as not only does the data need to be inserted, but the reverse geocoding, and possibly other things need to be done when the data in inserted. Feeding the data to the template DCS will take care of the other things that need to be done too. I have experience with Open GTS & GTS Enterprise and am quite sure this can be done. It will take a couple of days to code it and then need to be tested to get a CLI working. A web interface could also be written but would take more time. Do you have Apache running on your host? I ask this because if a web interface where to be written I would do it in PHP by uploading the XML file converting it to CSV then feeding to the template DCS to get it into the system.
