Online ordering system

I wrote an estimating system for a printing company in excel, which I will convert to a web language, such as ASP.net, HTML, Flash, etc, whichever will work best. I am utilizing spreadsheet converter software. It's pretty slick, and does exactly what I wanted it to do. Basically, the converted webpage uses drop down selections developed in excel, and generates a price. While it wouldn't be too difficult for me to create the estimating modules for various product offerings, I need a professional to expand the functionality to incorporate credit card acceptance. We want to take this to a complete online ordering system for printing, including client login and file uploads. I want to make sure this is the right approach, as the company I will be working for wants to move slowly and methodically towards a complete system. Everything keys off the estimating system, and I like what I have. Also, there is no need to develop a shopping cart in the printing business, as orders are placed 1 at a time. Each order will be handled as a single online order. My system also calculates weight, and we would like a shipping feature incorporated, which taps directly into UPS to generate a price. I am looking for suggestions as to what we can afford first. Our initial thought is to develop this for our existing clients, so the credit card acceptance module is not needed right away. We'd just like to fine tune the system first, and be able to bill existing clients on a local level who use the service. I'm looking for a simple flow at first, which would work something like this. 1. Client selects a product type, and generates an online estimate. 2. Client can choose to submit an order from the estimate data. 3. Client can login to an existing account, or setup a new one. 4. Client will select the appropriate shipping location, or type it in. 5. Client will upload files to our FTP server. 6. Client will receive an order confirmation. 7. Our company will receive an email alerting us of the order. 8. We will receive a job order based on the criteria the client has requested in the estimate. We will also receive a separate billing sheet with the price estimated. ## Deliverables a continuation of the high level brief... That's really about it for now, but I want to make sure we can expand on the site as we go, and eventually create a full fledged online print ordering system. The tricky part that I see is that I will have numerous estimating pages tuned to various products, and they all have to tie into the order processing system. I would like to be able to make simple modifications myself to my estimating pages as I generate them and link them up to our website. There will be many product offerings, so the number of estimating pages will grow with our product list. Because there are so many different variables in the printing industry, it will be far easier for me to generate multiple estimating pages modified for very specific print jobs on various pieces of equipment. For instance, I may have an estimating system specifically tuned for postcards, and then one specifically tuned for 8.5x11 brochures, and then one for saddle stitched catalogs with multiple pages. This will be an ongoing development project, with no end. The goal will be to increase the revenue stream through online print orders, and eventually create our own IT department, or keep subcontracting the coding portion. We've looked into canned software, but the up front fees and monthly commitment are a little much to swallow when we do nothing online currently. We also like the idea of developing the software to our specific needs as they arise, rather than adjusting our business model to fit the canned software requirements. We need to keep the initial costs down as far as possible, until we can justify the next steps financially. I've attached a sample of the estimators I'll be developing. This is a converted excel file.
