PHP/Mysql query by SearchDate variable

I have a form that my customers use to check all the new items added by the DatePosted field of the database. They select a PositionType from a dropdown menu and enter a begin date as in 20121001 and the result would be a list of all the positions that were added from their searchdate (20121001 to today. Here is the last one that worked before the server was upgrade to the new versions of php and mysql and would list the today of positions between the SearchDate and Today $result = mysql_query("SELECT Count(*) AS total FROM jobs WHERE PositionType = '$PositionType' AND '$SearchDate' <= DatePosted ORDER by JobState"); $job_count = mysql_result($result, 0, 'total'); and the last code to work that listed the positions was: $sql = "SELECT DATE_FORMAT(DatePosted,'%m/%d/%y') AS Date1, DATE_FORMAT(ClosingDate,'%m/%d/%y') AS Date2, JobID, DatePosted, PositionTitle, PositionType, JobCity, JobState, ClosingDate FROM jobs WHERE PositionType = '$PositionType' AND DatePosted >= $date[now] AND '$SearchDate' ORDER by JobState"; $result = mysql_query($sql); So for a small fee I wish to have someone look this over, give me the code to try and when it works I will pay you a small fee as this should be easy for someone that knows what there are doing... I thought I did but it is not working.
