For people who are currently proofreaders at an agency in NYC (especially law).

Hi, I am looking for someone who is currently working/recently worked in proofreading agencies for at least a year. I have taken a professional proofreading course but I am still new to the business and I would like to know exactly what certain companies (particularly in NYC) look for when hiring new temps or part-timers. As well as what the work environment is like. I'm really nervous to put myself out there and interview and take the tests because I fear I won't qualify. If someone can do a write-up of a few companies for me where they have worked, detailing the requirements to get chosen to work there, and how the daily work environment is, I would really appreciate it.
