Script for getting RMS & peak of an audio file

I need a script to run on a Mac within an applescript, that will get the RMS and Peak Level for an audio file in wav format. I want the RMS and Peak to be kicked out as variables that I can use within an applescript. There are several command-line tools out there like afconvert & and afclip that might be helpful. afclip detects clipping (audio volume peaks at 0 db), I need afclip but for peak, and RMS as well.
