Spanish to English Transcription and Translation services

Description: We are looking for a consultant who can commit 5 to 10 hours per week Starting on or before January 1, 2010, to January 15, 2010 (the minimum term of work). The person selected will not be compensated for travel or accommodations. The applicant is expected to provide his/her own work environment including computer and other needed supplies. We wish to identify a consultant who will: 1) Transcribe approximately 1 hour of digitally recorded focus groups conducted in English and 2 hours of digitally recorded focus groups conducted in Spanish into text provided in a Microsoft Word document. 2) Translate the Spanish language focus groups from Spanish into English in writing also provided in a Microsoft word document. Project Timeline: Transcription, translation, will be complete by January 15, 2010. Compensation: The applicant will be selected based on level of experience and of the consultant and their total project bid. The total bid will be paid upon completion of the work. Responders are asked to acknowledge the non-profit nature of CRI and its partners as well as the corresponding emphasis on cost efficiencies when effectively managing thier work time. General: All digital audio files will be provided via email using the windows media audio file format. Selected applicant will need to have the appropriate device installed on his/her computer to listen to this format of audio files. Selected applicant will be required to sign a confidentiality agreement. (Please see attached) Proposal Instructions: Proposals should include the following information: 1. Experience with transcription and translation of Spanish to English from spoken word to a written document. 2. Qualifications, experience, and education related to Spanish to English translation. Especially Experience working with focus groups related to public health or health-related language is highly desirable. Proposal instructions: Please provide a proposal outlining work experience related to the topic. Specificly background and firmiliarity with Puerto Rican Spanish. The proposal should be no longer than one page, excluding relevant work samples and/or biographical information.
