I had a 1Gb network which I upgraded recently to 40Gbps. I have DELL servers with ESXi7 installed. My issues. When I run iperf between two virtual machines, I get a bandwitch ranging from 6Gbits/sec to 10Gbits/sec. When I copy files with scp I getting a transfer speed of about 110-120MB/s which is very far from the theorical bandwitch of 1GB/s x 4 ~ 4G/s for a 40G network. Recently I discovered that encryption reduce transfer speed so, I setup FTP server. Transfer speed doubled with FTP. I got a transfer rate about 240-280 MB/s. I also updated MTU to 9000 on both hosts and VMs but transfer rates are still the same. My needs. I am looking for an Cisco/VMWare expert who can identify and solve the issue. I want to link 3 offices via some kind of bridge across 3 dedicated Cisco ISR 4321's. We tried MPLS, but couldn't get it to transfer traffic. It had really low ping times, but would not transfer packets of any size after that (using iperf to test). I don't have an MPLS circuit from my provider, and I want this to work across multiple providers. I'm wondering about GRE tunnels or some combination of VPLS / IPsec? I want the tunnel to pass 2 subnets, one management and one traffic, each on different VLAN's. I can't change the VLAN's. I have attached a network diagram. I need a system that will use Iperf to test the site network connection to a remote site and provide a report to the user of the Pi. The purpose of this is to test the network ability to handle VoIP traffic to the outside world. If there is a better test than iperf then I am willing to talk about it. I want the Pi to start testing the minute it is plugged into a network and run for 3 consecutive days, during normal business hours, Mon-Fri 8am to 6pm. After that time I want a report of all the activity and the results of the tests. If possible I want an overall MOS score to be included. Hi, I have a problem that my internal LAN is slow between Windows XP and Windows 2003 Server. Interface speed of server is 1,000 Mbit/s, and Interface speed of client is 100 Mbit/s. I tested with iperf using default settings (64KB windows size)( and found that the speed between windows xp and windows 2003 server is 5 Mbit/s both ways, and latency is less than 1 ms. When tested with 132KB windows size, speed is 80 Mbit/s (as expected). I tested again with Windows 7 against Windows 2008 R2, and speed if 80 Mbit/s with default 64KB window size. Another test between Windows 7 Windows and a fresh Windows XP install (not from my image), the speed is also 80 Mbit/s. IPERF is a common network testing tool that can be used to test IP throughput in networks. It can be found here: I need source specific multicast support added to it: I also need a CLI parameter to choose which exact interface to bind to/send the IGMP join out as it's kind of random right now. It has any source multicast support today, but does not have source specific. What does this mean? Well, the tool only support "any source multicast" today.
