Most corporate websites serve as simply landing pages. They tend to be static in nature and do not get updated very often as that would require resources and budget to do so. Other options involve a CMS platform to represent the Corp. which can be constantly updated with share holder news and events and all sorts of content. All you have to do is decide which type of site you prefer. Normally I discuss these things with the customer in addition to their future considerations in order to choose the correct platform the first time. Important is your idea of what "Professional" is. Designing the structure of the website is quite easy but making it look like your vision is only possible with your feedback. You should be looking for your developer to present you with Templates or sample ideas to help build your vision. This can be done with live websites, drawings and or many other methods to help you to shape the theme of your site. Your description of a simple corporate website suggests a static landing page(s). I recommend a Bootstrap based programming to add functionality and style. Getting in to a CMS system is much more advanced and not covered in this bid.
