Light & Shadow

I am in need of a creative designer to develop a logo and accompanying brand for Light & Shadow. We are a retail store of all Nova Scotian produced wines, beers, ciders, spirits and non-alcoholic beverages. Our store will be located in the Devour! Studios building in Wolfville, Nova Scotia to coincide with Devour The Food Film Festival this year. We're in need of a logo and some initial brand work, since it is only temporary at this point I’m trying to be cost-conscious since I only have a small window to make back my investment, but there is the potential for this to turn into a much bigger project that will require much more graphic design work including advertising, merchandise, and a full suite of assets. The store will be called ‘Light & Shadow’ with the byline along the lines of ‘Nova Scotian Artisanal Beverages’ or ‘Purveyors of Local Libations’, something along those lines to help communicate who we are and what we sell. Light & Shadow comes from a few things. Firstly, it was the name of a video store in the 80’s & 90’s in Wolfville, operated by a bit of a local icon, Video Bob. He was very close to our family, valued food, travel, wine, community and often hosted visitors and locals alike for culinary experiences. We like the idea of paying tribute to him while connecting the store to the film festival that will host our location… think wine and film pairings, Tidal Bay with Blue Crush, Phone Box Red with The Apartment, etc. There is also the more literal interpretation of Light & Shadow lending itself to White & Red wines. Plus the fun, jovial nature of consumption juxtaposed with the darker more tumultuous side of alcohol. We’re trying to take a cinematic reference like Light & Shadow and put it into a new concept or positioning so we think there’s lots of room to get creative here but we also want to make it clear that we’re a liquor store.I am looking for a design that captures the combination of light and shadow, while also maintaining a professional aesthetic. I am open to suggestions when it comes to the colors and themes of the logo, and require two to three logo concepts. The final logo design must be included in multiple file formats, and I am open to any other input or ideas from the designer. I require a designer who is experienced and creative, and is able to create an eye-catching, appealing logo and brand for my project. I look forward to seeing your work!
